Group work

Entering a university requires us to work in group and study by ourselves. We think they are very useful for any students. Especially, working in group helps us to improve our collaborative skills. Besides, one of your groupmates may have picked up something you missed of vice versa. However, if you only work in the same group for a long time, do you think that is a drawback? First of all, that seems to be good. Because when we collaborate with each other for a long time, we can understand the viewpoints of the partners easily. But when something changes such as members, we can't adapt to new circumstances. Sometimes you can't even understand your partners as well as you can't make yourself understood. Therefore, when you still study in the university, you should practise the way we have just mentioned. That means in each topic, you had better work with diffirent partners. The main purpose of this article is encourage our class to apply this studying method. We hope that all of you will study effectively with it! Please give us some comments on that! Thanks!!!^-^

Group work is useful. You can improve your skill about speaking, and you can be more self-confident. It is probably new, but I think I should make aquaintance with it.[Nha Trang]

It sounds reasonable. However, individually I think I prefer working in a certain group. Once your partner refuses to collaborate with you, you will get low grade for unluckiness. It's too risk for our grade plays an important role in our future opportunities such as scholarships, job options...
Therefore I think I would rather take it safe.

I like working in group too. But I disagree with you that we have to change our partners. You can choose to work with anyone you like provided that he or she has the same feeling. I love my group now and i don't wanna change it at present.Tata

By working in groups you gain experience and understanding about how tasks are often undertaken in the workplace. The successful completion of a group assignment usually means that you have mastered many very important skills, particularly communication, analytical and interpersonal skills, which are highly valued by employers. The abilities to listen, question, persuade, respect the opinions of others, help, share and participate are of lifelong value.

Working with others also allows for assignments to be broken into tasks and the workload to be distributed. By working together, students are able to bounce ideas off each other and learn from each other. Members can contribute different skills and thus the group can achieve more that what individual members could on their own.

Often you will have an opportunity to select whom you will work with but sometimes, particularly if you are an off-campus student, this decision will be made for you. If you have not previously met the other members of the group, spend some time getting to know each other. Invite members to talk about themselves and exchange addresses. You may find that you will be working with students from interstate, overseas and from a diversity of backgrounds and interests. Build a good working relationship.(Deakin University)
We have a group and we always practice that!
